“Still 59% Romanians compared to top 30% hungarians. And this is a hungarian census that were usually counting gypsies and jews as hungarians. The censuses were usually language based and not ethnic based. Meaning that even if you were a Romanian that knew a bit of hungarian, they’d register you as hungarian”–vladgrinch

“Hungary was always like multi ethnic since the kingdoms foundation, however the Mongol and then Ottoman wars heavily decimated the central areas of the kingdom primarily inhabited by Hungarians (as Slavs and Vlachs due to their pastoral lifestyle and being less urbanized in general lived in mainly hill, mountainous regions).
